Are you considering Rhinoplasty / Nose Surgery?
Some may have had trauma to the nose, or are unhappy with their appearance after a previously attempted Rhinoplasty.
Nasal appearance is one of the most common patient concerns. Many patients are dissatisfied with their nasal appearance due to the way it developed in their youth. Many have associated breathing problems, which can also be developmental in origin or due to trauma. The appearance of the nose has a great impact on self-esteem and confidence.
Our facial plastic surgeon can answer questions about your specific needs with respect to your nasal appearance and function.
When considering whether you are a candidate for Rhinoplasty, it is important to set clear goals. The surgeon will review your concerns, examine your nose and facial balance, and offer solutions. If his analysis meets your needs, and they usually do, then you will be a good candidate for rhinoplasty surgery.
Why Should I Choose Physicians Aesthetics?
Whether you desire surgery for functional or cosmetic reasons, your choice of a qualified facial plastic surgeon is of paramount importance. As with many facial plastic surgeons, ours has training in ear, nose, throat, as well as facial cosmetic surgery, which provides you with the highest level of training and expertise. Our surgeon will examine the structure of your nose, both externally and internally, to evaluate what you can expect from rhinoplasty. It is important to have a realistic expectation of nasal surgery so that you love your results.
What should I expect during the surgery?
Rhinoplasty usually requires general anesthesia, though in some limited cases we treat under sedation anesthesia. The doctors make incisions inside the nose and sometimes on the skin between your nostrils. The skin is lifted off of the cartilage and bone, and appropriate re-shaping of these structures is performed. When there are breathing problems, you can address these issues through the same incisions and approaches. On occasion, the doctors borrow cartilage from the nasal septum, ear, or rib to assist in optimizing the final outcome.
What is the recovery like?
As with all surgeries, there is swelling that can take time to resolve. This is particularly an issue with rhinoplasty, as the nose is a delicate structure and even the smallest amount of swelling can distort the appearance and function. While early results are generally gratifying, it will take time for resolution of the swelling.
