Show off your “kiss me” lips with lip fillers!
Lip fillers, or lip augmentation, is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure in which a physician uses synthetic or biological products to safely enhance, or augment, the lips. The doctor may use a variety of lip filler products to achieve enhancement including Juvederm®, Restylane®, Belotero®, Volbella®, or other filler materials. Patients seeking lip enhancement fear an overdone and unnatural result, so Dr. Atkins works with every patient to make sure this is not the case. Our lip patients love their results!
Dr. Atkins’ reputation and experiential level have made her one of a few national trainers with Allergan®, the makers of our most popular lip filler, Juvederm®. This is experience that you can trust!
Who would benefit from lip fillers?
Anyone desiring fuller lips is a candidate, whether male or female. Some people have always had thin lips, while others have experienced lip thinning as part of the aging process.
Where would my lip augmentation procedure be performed?
Lip augmentation/lip enhancement is an outpatient procedure performed in the office at Physicians Aesthetics by Dr. Atkins. She has years of experience with lip fillers and augmentation.
How is the actual procedure performed?
For lip augmentation, the doctor uses injectable fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, or Belotero®. Dr. Atkins injects a fine needle into the treatment area and no numbing is usually needed because these products contain a numbing agent in them. Patients can receive additional comfort by cooling or icing. For additional numbing, patients can also receive a topical prescription agent. Just show up a few minutes early and ask the team. We are here to make sure your experience is comfortable.
What can I look forward to from having lip augmentation?
Beautiful lips of course! There may be some swelling at first, but this subsides quickly in most patients. Many love to have their lips done right before a special event as they know that our team will give them the look for which they are dreaming. Juvederm Volbella® by Allergan® Cosmetics
Physicians Aesthetics is one of a few practices in the United States that has been given the opportunity to test Juvederm Volbella, a new revolutionary product. This product is special because it is the first FDA approved product that is proven to provide fullness in the lips as well as the lines around the mouth for up to 1 year.
What is Juvederm Volbella® XC?
It is a soft, tailored product. that is indicated and approved by the FDA for the perioral (around the mouth) area as well as lines above and below the lips. Many times you will see these lines on smokers as well as straw-drinkers. It is approved for patients over the age of 21.
How long does it last?
Volbella lasts up to one year in both the lips and perioral lines. The clinical data that supports this claim is highlighted as a double-blinded, randomized control trial, which is the scientific standard. In the study, the focus was on the safety and reliability of the product. The study consisted of three phases: the treatment phase, a follow-up phase, and also a 1-year follow up satisfaction phase. It was tested against Restylane-L , with the face-q scale for comparison.
Are patients satisfied with this product?
The patient satisfaction rate in the study was very high at the treatment phase as well as the one year follow up. Many during this time were retreated, to hold on to that youthful appearance.
Afraid of trying new things?
Don’t be! Volbella has been approved and used in Europe since 2011, Canada since 2013, and as of 2016 it is used in more than 70 countries around the world.
How is it formulated?
Volbella has a proprietary mixture of higher and lower molecular weight hylauronic acid that results in tightly and efficiently cross-linked gel. It is formulated with Vycoss technology which results in a smoother, as well as softer, gel. Additionally, The lower concentration of hylauronic acid, 15 mg/ml, gives us the lowest water affinity and lowest cohesively, which allows it to not “puff up” and to spread easily. This is what we see clinically and it is becoming a clinical favorite by Dr. Debra Atkins.
